The end of 2014 means that my blog is almost a whole year old! Crazy! It’s been a very fun, rewarding and delicious first year of food blogging, and to celebrate, I’m rounding up the 10 best recipes from Hold the Grain … or trying to round up the 10 best. How do I even pick my favorites? They’re all special to me for one reason or another.
With many close 11ths and 12ths, I picked what I think truly are the 10 best Hold the Grain recipes of 2014.
This was the very first recipe that I posted, but still one of my favorites. I’ve made them plenty of times since for my family because they love these Oreos. These Oreos are nut free, dairy free and completely addicting, or so I’ve heard.
A crisp, slightly-sweet and sturdy pizza crust made from sweet potatoes and topped with all of your breakfast favorites. Mhmm. As delicious as they taste, they’re also super healthy!
This recipe post gets viewed on my blog more than any other post. I originally wanted to recreate all my favorite girl scout cookies as cupcakes, and I think I should keep working on that. Man, I could really go for a cupcake right now.
Kale pesto? Yeah, kale pesto! I loveeee me some kale pesto pasta.
How does a burger stuffed with so many delicious things not make the list?
This soup has so many of my favorite things; sage, cauliflower, butternut squash, bacon and more sage. The mix of cauliflower and butternut squash give this soup a delicious, unique flavor and a beautiful yellow color.
Egg-free, dairy-free, flourless brownies. They’ve also got a plantain and an avocado hidden instead there. Healthiest brownies ever?
This recipe is especially special to me. It was originally created for my cousin when she began following a gluten free diet, and she loves these every bit as much as the Hostess donettes that she missed.
The ultimate comfort food for me. I literally threw all of the things I crave when I don’t feel well- chicken, sweet potato, broccoli and Brussels sprouts- into a casserole, and the result is pretty amazing. It tastes cheesy, indulgent and satisfying while being completely healthy at the same time.
These waffles. I think people have strong opinions about them. I happen to love them, and from the comments, I know that some of you do too!
